Tax Credit, Flood Insurance Extended Tens of thousands of REALTORS® contacted members of Congress in the days leading up to the votes to extend the closing deadline for the home buyer tax credit. The closing deadline was changed from June 30 to Sept. 30, the adjustment prompted by the abnormally long time required for transactions involving distressed properties. Obama has signed the bill, making it law. Also, national flood insurance was given a bit more life as Congress voted to renew the program, but policy makers and legislators are still seeking a more permanent solution on that.
